Abstract

Title: Global Governance, Trade and Competition in the Digital Age

The digital age has completely changed the way countries, businesses, and people interact in the global economy. Today, trade is no longer limited to physical goods and traditional markets; it increasingly depends on digital platforms, artificial intelligence, data, and online services. This shift has created both opportunities and challenges for global governance and market competition.

This paper explores how the growth of digital technologies is influencing international trade and the way governments regulate global markets. Large technology companies have gained significant power by controlling online platforms, user data, and digital ecosystems, which often creates concerns about unfair competition and market dominance. As a result, governments and international institutions are finding it difficult to frame common rules that support innovation while also protecting privacy, national interests, and fair trade practices.

The paper also highlights the gap between developed and developing countries in adapting to the digital economy. While advanced nations are rapidly benefiting from AI and digital trade, many developing countries still face challenges such as limited digital infrastructure, weaker regulatory systems, and unequal access to technology. This imbalance can affect their competitiveness in the global market.

The main purpose of this study is to understand how stronger international cooperation and better policy frameworks can help create a more balanced and fair digital economy. The paper concludes that effective global governance is essential to ensure healthy competition, inclusive trade growth, and equal opportunities in the digital era.
