Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has significantly transformed the creation of content across industries, including art, music, literature, and software development. AI-generated works challenge the traditional framework of copyright law, which is primarily based on human authorship. This paper examines the legal complexities surrounding the ownership of content created by artificial intelligence systems. It explores whether such works should be attributed to the developer, the user, or the AI itself, and analyzes the limitations of existing copyright regimes in addressing these questions. The study critically evaluates current legal positions in different jurisdictions and highlights the absence of clear guidelines for determining authorship and ownership in AI-generated content. It also discusses the risks of copyright infringement, originality concerns, and the potential misuse of existing works by AI systems during the training process. Furthermore, the paper considers the implications of these challenges on creativity, innovation, and economic rights. By analyzing legal principles and emerging case studies, this paper argues for the need to redefine copyright laws to accommodate technological advancements. It suggests the development of a balanced legal framework that protects human creators while encouraging innovation in artificial intelligence. The paper concludes that without timely legal reforms, the increasing reliance on AI could lead to significant uncertainties and disputes in the field of intellectual property.
