Human Rights, Global Equity, and Access to Knowledge: A Conceptual study

Abstract

This paper examines the interrelationship between human rights, global equity, and access to knowledge in the context of an increasingly digital and interconnected world. While access to knowledge is recognized as a fundamental enabler of human development, disparities in its distribution continue to exacerbate global inequalities. The study proposes a conceptual framework where human rights serve as a normative foundation, global equity as an outcome variable, and access to knowledge as both a mediating and independent variable. The paper integrates theoretical insights with empirical indicators and suggests policy interventions to bridge knowledge divides. The findings highlight that equitable access to knowledge is not merely a technological issue but a human rights imperative critical to achieving sustainable development.
